At UConn Health, the Bae Lab in the Department of Neuroscience seeks to hire a grant funded,Research Technician to support ongoing research projects relevant to cerebral cortical development in health, disease and evolution.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under minimal supervision of the principal investigator

Schedule: 35 hours per week,

Flexibility needed to work around experiments, weekends, and holidays

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Maintenance of mouse colony

Preparation of mouse brain samples for immunohistochemical analysis

Molecular cloning of genome editing tools

Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

Ability to follow instructions both verbally and written

Ability to work with laboratory mice

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

High School diploma or equivalent.

One (1) year of experience in a laboratory/medical setting.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

Incumbents in this class may be required to undergo periodic testing or immunizations for communicable diseases

Individuals who are uncomfortable with mice or blood work should NOT apply

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

B. S. in Cell and Molecular Biology

Rigorous research experience for 1 years

Mouse husbandry

Design and generation of genome editing tools using molecular cloning

Ability to supervise a special payroll technician

WORKING CONDITIONS:

May occasionally be required to lift standard laboratory equipment and supplies

May be exposed to risk from such elements as toxic vapor

Although extremely rare incumbents may be exposed to hazards such as broken glass and toxic substances
